Individual Therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the client. The client works with a therapist on a one-to-one basis to set and achieve goals to create positive changes in one's life by exploring a variety of issues.
Couples Counseling involves working with couples at any stage in their relationship to identify unhelpful interactions and create effective conflict resolution to aid in improving their overall satisfaction. Couples counseling may also involve anything from pre-marital counseling, improving existing relationships, salvaging a struggling marriage to helping a couple make informed decisions regarding divorce.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist I believe that individuals are all members of a family system. It is within this system that we function, behave and interact. Family Therapy includes some or all members of a family to address issues or concerns that may impact the entire family as a whole. (During the course of individual therapy, one may decide to include family members in their sessions.)
